Night Run for August #BlogFlash2012

by Novawuff @ DeviantArt.com

Night Run

Nova’s legs churned heavily, fueled by need alone, until she finally succumbed.  Her sides heaved as  the shaft of silvery moonlight gilded her fur.  At the desperate edge of exhaustion, she no longer cared about the Hunter that tracked her. He didn’t matter anymore.

Only Jed mattered. Had he heeded her advice and taken the young ones to safety?  She had spent all her loyalty, all her love, leading the Hunter astray, giving Jed enough time.

"Goddess, please let me die before the Hunter wrings their secrets from my pelt," she prayed.

“It’s not your time yet,” the fireflies replied.

100 words.

  5. I love the pic you found for your story. I'm filled with sadness at such a beautiful creature being hunted to the pount where she just does not care . . but then filled with happiness as the fireflies deliver hope. Gorgeous piece. xxx

  6. Beautiful piece, Stacy. It's sad the wolf has had to go to such lengths to protect Jed and the young ones and has reached the stage where she's ready to give up. The fireflies giving her hope is a wonderful touch at the end. Love it!!
Great to have you back with us!
